This Sunday, November 30th CBS will air their special investigation show “How Online Gamblers Unmasked Cheaters”. This special program was produced after a 4 month investigation into the online Texas Hold’em poker business and in particular a cheating scandal concerning the online Texas Hold’em page Absolute Poker.

This Texas Hold’em website was investigated after several of the poker players on the website declared that a player was unduly winning a great amount of poker hands. Todd Witteles was a key witness in this research, according to him; he was losing great amounts of poker chips to the exact same Texas Hold’em player. Witteles says that this gambler was raising against very good cards, most people would have presumed he was basically giving out his money, but he was essentially winning poker chips.

Witteles was quite correct in his assumptions, following this it was shown that a player with knowledge of the site was able to see any poker player’s poker hole cards. At first, Absolute Poker proclaimed that there was no wrongdoing with the room or the poker player. After many more players came forward with charges of fraud, the Texas Hold’em poker page examined deeper into the problem and made the discovery.

By January of 2008, the gaming commission unearthed what the poker competitors and the Texas Hold’em page had assumed all along. The investigation proved that, there was a worker who had invaded the poker room’s protection and was playing dishonestly for close to a month and a half. The inquiry confirmed that the Texas Hold’em website had not gained from the illegal actions in any way, and was definitely not implicated.

These scams are further testimony that there ought to be more control in regards to Texas Hold’em poker pages. The US government should authorize and control the online Texas Hold’em business to look after these decent consumers. These rules would also police the admission to these webpages by children, which is becoming another problem these days.
